Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings At Stillwaters in Lake Barrington, Illinois

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of people who come together to solve their drinking problem.

The primary purpose of A.A. is to carry its message of recovery to the alcoholic seeking help. Regardless of the road we follow, we all head for the same destination, recovery of the alcoholic person. Together, we can do what none of us could accomplish alone.

A.A. membership is open to anyone who wants to do something about their drinking problem. You don’t have to pay anything to attend. You can just sit and listen and learn more about Alcoholism and recovery, or you can share about your situation. It’s completely up to you.

If you aren’t sure if you belong in Alcoholics Anonymous, answer the questions located here, honestly. If you find you cannot stop drinking, even when you want to, we can help.

If you are looking to attend an A.A. meeting at Stillwaters, please see the schedule below or download the Meetings Guide app located here.

There are two types of meetings: Closed and Open.

Closed Meetings – Closed meeting are for A.A. members only, or for those who have a drinking problem and have a desire to stop drinking. If you want to quit drinking you are welcome at a closed meeting.

Open Meetings –  Open Meetings are open to the general public and are a great way to get a better understanding of what A.A is all about.

Stillwaters continues to serve the entire Northwestern Suburban area with most of its membership coming from Algonquin, Cary, Fox River Grove, Island Lake, Lake Zurich, Schaumburg, Palatine, Hoffman Estates, Algonquin, McHenry, Woodstock, Barrington Area and more.

Service work is an integral part of a persons recovery process, and is both self gratifying and helpful to others. “Giving back” can range from making coffee before the meetings, cleaning up afterward, arranging chairs, serving on committees, hosting meetings, carrying the hotline phone, mentoring and sponsoring other addicts and myriad other ways.

If you are interested in helping Stillwaters with an upcoming activity or getting more involved, please contact the board.
